Plant ecology - Plant ecophysiology - Plant anatomy

About me

I am an ecologist who is interested in understanding the strategies and mechanisms used by plants to cope with stressors, primarily drought and heat. During my scientific journey, I have studied the influence of land use, drought and alternative water sources (e.g. fog and dew) in plants. I have used hydraulics technics, functional diversity indices and plant anatomy in multiple ecosystems (i.e. in restingas, seasonally dry tropical forests, páramos and tropical rainforest). Additionally, I worked with meta-analysis and mathematical models during my PhD, which provided me with new perspectives and insights on this topic. In a hotter and drier world, I hope to contribute to a better understanding of climate change effects across different types of vegetation. Also, I was the first person in my family to complete a course at the university and now I hope to inspire other low income students, specially girls, to access higher education.
